Historic Mail was started by a group of history enthusiasts who relished the idea of getting a letters from historic figures weekly - almost as if directly from Benjamin Franklin's or Thomas Edison's desk straight to yours. Historic letters, as primary sources to our knowledge of the past, provide rich and deep context to well-known events and almost always contain surprising tidbits - whether mundane or personal - that can change your perspective. Having them delivered directly to your mailbox almost makes history come alive again.  

The letters for each gift pack have been painstakingly chosen to provide as rich of a journey as possible. In addition, in order to offset our paper usage, a tree is planted for every order. We sincerely hope that those you gift the letters to (or yourself, if you are so inclined) will love the experience of receiving these weekly treasures in the mail.

I plan on purchasing this on behalf of someone else - how will the deliveries work? 

You can purchase our subscriptions on behalf of yourself or someone else; just enter the correct shipping address at checkout! We think this makes a lovely gift - in fact, many receivers of historic letters find that they start to inherently look forward to their mail arriving every week.

When will the subscription begin?

The first letter will be sent out within seven days of receiving the order.

Is shipping included in the price?

Yes, all shipping is included!

What kind of letters are these?

The letters we mail out are reproductions of real letters or messages that were written by historical figures. We always include a few paragraphs of contextual information to shed some light on the fascinating historical context behind the correspondence as well.

The Gift Packs are for physical letters, but we appreciate that you might want to be able to give something during a gift exchange. That's why every order comes with a printable certificate that is emailed to you within 24 hours of your order, that you can gift first.

Do you have something I can send to the person I am gifting the letters to?

Yes, we send you a personalized digital certificate within 24 hours of your order that you can download and email or print off. 

What is the difference between the 10 week, 25 week and 52 week packs?

Where possible we try to create a full experience that will take the reader on a full and rewarding journey from the founding of the United States of America with letters from George Washington all the way to letters from Henry Ford, the founder of the automobile industry in the United States and beyond. However, the 52 week packs will naturally deliver a richer and deeper experience as there are more letters.

I received the 10 week pack as a gift and absolutely loved it - can I get the 25 week and 52 week one now?

Yes you can; we try our hardest to avoid letter overlaps between the 10 week, 25 week and 52 week gift packs so any one can begin the journey anew.

Are the Gift Packs charged on a one-time payment basis?

Can I get a refund? 

While many love receiving historic letters, we understand it may not be for everyone. We have a 14 day no-nonsense refund policy; please contact us at members@historicmail.com if you would like a refund and to cancel the subscription.
